Malaysia celebrates 51st Merdeka Day!

Yippee! Today, August 31st 2008, Malaysia celebrates 51 glorious years of independence!

Wishing all Malaysians "SELAMAT HARI MERDEKA"

We're proud to be Malaysians. Thought this image of the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, the tallest twin buildings in the world befits our jubilant celebration of 51 years of nationhood. Previously these Petronas Towers were the world's tallest buildings from 1998 until surpassed by Taipei 101 in 2004.

Coincidentally, this image (without the text) was captured yesterday when John and I were invited by a very dear friend to a high tea at Malaysia's first revolving restaurant, The Revolving Bintang Restaurant, located at the 18th floor of The Federal Hotel. Being first timers there, we did not like the jerkyness experienced in its movement, causing a little imbalance and dizziness. Otherwise, place, music and food was okay, and the uniqueness is one get to see the spectacular view of Kuala Lumpur's skyline as it revolves every so gradually. Magnificent architectural structures like the Petronas Twin Towers, Menara Kuala Lumpur (KL Tower) and the Berjaya Times Square, among others were delightfully and clearly seen. I captured some pictures for memories sake, and the above unintended image just seemed so ideal when I had wanted to write this short merdeka article. ;-)

God bless our nation, its peoples and all who step on its soil. May we strive towards racial harmony, united in love and mutual respect, as well as uphold truth, justice and religious freedom for all.

50+1 Malaysia

50+1 Malaysia - a very comprehensive hand-book guide on Malaysia, my beloved country.

Published by Quachee Enterprise and perfectly timed to coincide with our country's celebration of 51 years of independence from the British rule, on August 31st, 2008.

Congratulations to QuaChee, the editor and his team on an excellent publication. Indeed, a very impressive book, produced with such passion and love for Malaysia. Palm-sized booklet that is small, light and handy, yet wonderfully packed with lots of useful information and accompanied with fantastic colorful pictures.

Guess what! I received a complimentary copy of this fantastic book during the first week of August, just because I had allowed the usage of one of my photos on Sungai Klah Hot Spring Park (page 119 of book). A lovely unexpected gesture by its publisher. What a wonderful surprise Merdeka gift! Thank you so much, I have truly enjoyed reading its enlightening and impressive contents. :-D
