Engelbert Humperdinck at Genting Highlands
A superb performance by Engelbert Humperdinck at his 2010 Legacy Of Love World Tour concert at the Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands. It was a 2-night show on June 18 & 19 by the veteran artiste who had been in showbiz for 43 years, and this concert being his second one in Malaysia.
He's charming and still youthful-looking for a 74-year-old, though not as agile after some strenuous moves and prancing around. He was delightfully funny and comical, and had us, the audience bursting with laughter with his 'naughty' jokes. Surprisingly, his melodious voice is still very good and can hold well for almost two hours on stage. With excellent showmanship, he had us all mesmerized with his marvelous singing, rolling out many of his old favourite hits like The Last Waltz, Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Am I That Easy To Forget, Man Without Love, I'm On Fire, Quando, Spanish Eyes, There Goes My Everything and Release Me (the song that shot him to fame), among others. Also presented his new single, Tell Me Where It Hurts, which will be released soon and concluded that wonderful night with two songs, We'll Meet Again and My Way.
The large crowd comprised mostly of fans from the older generation and without doubt, we were definitely enthralled by Engelbert who warmed our hearts that night and rekindled sweet memories of his glorious yesteryears!
Sharing below some pictures of Engelbert and his band, captured on June 18 2010:
It was truly an enjoyable evening, enraptured by Engelbert's stunning performance. We booked the room&show package for just RM328 for a night stay in a deluxe room at First World Hotel with breakfast for 2 pax that included 2 show tickets. My darling John and I, together with our dear friends, Steven and Soke Wan went up to Genting Highlands specially for this wonderful concert event...worth every penny spent! :-)
Update: July 4 2010
Just thought it nice to include here the first record that I gave my darling John during our second year of dating in 1968...none other than Engelbert Humperdinck's 'The Last Waltz' that also included A Place in the Sun, Release Me and Long Gone. The record which is still with us today is almost as old as the legendary performer's impressive career. Though the songs' lyrics does not portray our true love sentiments for one another then and even now, John and I (married for 40½ years) just love to play this record (pictured below) occasionally...we simply enjoy being 'serenaded' by him!

I read your article about Engelbert Humperdinck's concert in Malaysia. Just to rectify your error. The Legacy Of Love Tour in 2010 was not Engelbert' s second concert in Malaysia. I am a big fan of him and have been going to all his concerts in Malaysia and Singapore. As far as I can remember 2010 was his seventh concerts in Malaysia.Correct me if I am wrong.
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteSince I'm unable to confirm the actual number of times he performed in Malaysia, I've just struck through the related text to avoid further confusion.
Thanks for info.
