Kumar's Restaurant at Oasis Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya

What a lovely surprise!
Mother's Day celebration on May 12th was at Kumar's Curry Fish Head Restaurant at Oasis Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

This was our (my spouse's and I) first visit to this neck of the woods and the landscape is absolutely breath-taking. A pity though that the sun was really blasting and blinding when we were there, before and after dining which prevented me from capturing some shots that day. Hence, missed the opportunity to share my joyous day with more photos here.

My beloved John and I were treated by our sons and their spouses to this lovely Indian fine dining eatery which is pork-free. The restaurant is a three-storey single unit that is beautifully decorated. In  front of the building is a lovely pool, giving a scenic oasis-like view.

To celebrate Mother's Day, Kumar's offered buffet lunch and dinner, priced at RM35 nett (or was it RM38?) and RM45 nett respectively. If I'm not mistaken these prices were knocked down by about half.

Unfortunately, food served appeared to be proportionately reduced too, sort of at par or slightly below par of the discounted price.

About 15 dishes or so that were served were so ordinary. Briyani rice was very simply cooked, curried/fried mutton and chicken pieces were small, squids were tiny and not tender, though I did enjoy the boiled egg and prawn sambals.  Fish and fruits were excluded and only sky juice was provided. Coffee, tea and other juices ordered were charged a la carte.

Having attended so many buffet lunches and dinners elsewhere over the years, I find the buffet menu here rather strange and lacking the uumph factor! Frankly, in my honest opinion, I'd rate the lunch as 6.5/10.

Nonetheless, there was a huge lunch crowd that Mother's Day. Many people were queuing to be seated. Probably, the a la carte dishes were the attraction, not the buffet lunch.



Of course, more important than the food itself was the wonderful bonding of ties with our family members on this joyous day. Lunched from 12 noon to almost 3 pm before we parted company with David, Kellie and family. John and I, together with Darren, Yanti and Dylea proceeded to 1 Utama Shopping Mall, then to Ikea and The Curve, and ended the day with dinner at Vietnamese Pho Hoa Noodle Shop.

An exciting Mother's Day to remember that included a short visit to the Secret Rooftop Garden at One Utama that I had wanted to venture to for many years. Unfortunately, it was a hurried view of the lovely plants there as Yanti realized that she left her iPhone 4 at the washer room a few floors below. As you've guessed... gone for good! Darren generously got his beloved wife a new iPhone 5 within the hour... what a show of love on Mother's Day!
