My Family, My Treasure!

Potrait of my family

I am truly blessed and thankful to God for this great treasure, my family who means the world to me :)

John - my beloved spouse for nearly 36 years, Darren - my younger son with his beautiful wife, Yanti on his left, and David - my elder son with his lovely wife Kellie on his right.

That's Dylea (belonging to Darren and Yanti), my adorable grand-daughter posing cheekily in the next two photos.

Yes, my family though small in number but with God's grace will definitely and surely increase!

Darren, Yanti and Dylea
Just can't refrain from sharing our joy in anticipation - by early next year there'll be two more, not one.

Isn't it marvelous? Kellie and David are looking forward to their first-born fraternal twins!

Feeling wonderful, grateful and thankful for this great family of mine!

Blue Plumbago

Oh, how lovely are their clustered blooms!

Just love the color of its flowers - light blue or sky blue which is quite rare in the tropics and so lovely to look at! This fast growing perennial shrub loves the sun but its delicate blooms and yellowish-green oblong leaves are very sensitive to rain.

This morning, I had to prune down heavily on the plant which had been severely affected by our current wet and rainy weather :(

I should have moved my potted plant earlier to a sheltered place, then I would have been able to continue marveling at its beauty.

Learning the hard way! :)

Miniature Pinscher or Toy Manchester Terrier?

Dah!..dah!..introducing our pet dog, Maxi! He's so lovable, adorable, inquisitive and energetic and brings about great joy, happiness and thankfulness in our daily living. He's about 1 year old and has been with us since 1st October, 2005.

Maxi, our miniature pinscherI've surfed the net for his identity and narrowed down to either:
(a) miniature pinscher or (b) toy manchester terrier.

I'm more inclined to the former, though I'm sure he's not a pure bred.

What say you? Would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks!

Thank You, Lord Jesus

Yes, I prayed so earnestly for our dog, Maxi to recover from his vomitting bouts. By God's grace, he has not vomitted since last Friday.

Hooray! he's back to his usual mischievous self now and I love that!! Playful, naughty, teasing, jumping, wagging and greeting happily and best of all - eating and 'ready for the pot'. Oh heavens no, I don't mean that!! I'd never ever part with him for riches or gold. Just feeling very happy that he's gobbling his food, not throwing out and putting on weight, instead of skin and bone!

Our Baby is sick

Our pet dog, Maxi has been sick for the past two weeks! He has been vomitting once or twice, every other day. Not much though, but enough to worry and make us 'first-time parents' very anxious. Took him to the vet a couple of times and diagnosed as gastritis with too much acidity in his stomach. Followed up with occasional telephone calls to the vet to keep him updated on Maxi's condition and get some advice. The vet told us to try to keep our backyard (that's Maxi's 'domain' where he's king and roams freely) very clean and our plants beyond his mouth's reach. He's very inquisitive and nosey over his surroundings and likes to sniff and eat whatever, be it edible or inedible - insects, leaves, roots, soil, charcoal, etc.!!!
Feeling very helpless in this situation because we had him only since 1st October, 2005 and we sort of know next to nothing in giving him the best care. Will have to do some homework surfing the net for more answers!!

Two's Company

Two’s company, three’s a crowd!

Well, that’s what my beloved spouse and I are when we’re working in our home garden. Both of us have been garden enthusiasts since 2001 and spend a lot of our free time toiling with sweat and love in our garden to ‘bear fruits’. We’re delightfully happy with the results! (here's a shot for viewing pleasure).

We seem to be team mates perfectly matched and complement each other. My spouse normally does the fertilizing, pest-controlling and watering whereas I will do the planting, replanting, landscaping and weeding.

He’s also the Hercules who shifts the pots ever so frequently to his chagrin because of my fickleness, ha ha!

Well, now that we’re no longer getting any younger, I’ve to be extra sure before repositioning heavy pots to reduce unnecessary 'loading and unloading' and prevent back-aches. Oh, the perils of old age!!

Help! Plant ID?

This beautiful plant was purchased from Cameron Highlands, Malaysia’s largest and best-known hill resort during my recent vacation there with my spouse in August.

We were skeptical when informed that it can survive in the lowlands, nevertheless we fell in love with it and brought it home.

This beauty as purchased is shown on the right photo and transplanted into a bigger pot a week later as shown on the left photo. Its striking blooms of deep pink mixed against white looked so fragile and artificial yet very captivating amidst its green claw-like segmented leaves.

Currently it’s still growing healthily but of course ‘incomplete’ - yeah! without flowers!

I’ve tried to find its ID to know more about this plant but sadly unsuccessful. Thus, I’d be most appreciative if someone out there can ID it for me. Thanks in advance.
